Germany still unaware who is behind North Stream pipelines sabotage
Colonel Arne Collatz, Chief of the Press Section for Germany's Federal Ministry of Defence has stated that the German government does not have any new leads on who could have organized the alleged act of sabotage on the Nord Stream pipelines.
"There are no news regarding the situation around this matter", TASS reported on the colonel's remarks during a briefing on October 7.
He noted that he cannot give any judgment on the newly published report by the German Der Spiegel on October 5, in which they cited a report by the Federal Criminal Police Office, saying, "[…] considering the high complexity of both, the execution and the preparation of such an act, the involvement of foreign governments seems likely".
On September 26, multiple leaks were discovered at the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines. According to Swedish seismologists, the leaks were caused by explosions. Nord Stream AG, the operating company of the energy project, called the incident unprecedented.
It was previously reported, that the Swedish Security Service have finished their investigation on-site and announced that based on their findings, their suspicion of an act of sabotage being the cause of the leak has grown.
