Germany to connect first fusion reactor to the grid

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has announced plans to connect the country’s first fusion reactor to the power grid.

He made the statement on April 20 at the Hannover Messe, where he toured exhibitions alongside Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The remarks were published on the website of the Bundestag.

“In the federal government, we have not only included fusion technology in our high-tech agenda, but we also have the ambition to connect the first fusion reactor to the grid in Germany. This will mark a revolution in energy production and supply for our country,” Merz said.
