Minister: Germany to continue close intelligence cooperation with US
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has said that Germany will continue close cooperation with the United States in the field of intelligence.
The minister stressed the importance of the partnership with Washington, noting that this principle should remain unchanged “regardless of the current political situation,” including criticism of the United States and President Donald Trump, Caliber.Az reports, citing German media.
“The United States is and remains our partner,” Dobrindt said. He also announced plans to further strengthen Germany’s intelligence capabilities, including transforming the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution into a fully-fledged intelligence service with effective operational capacities.
The minister added that cooperation with foreign intelligence agencies, including those of the United States and Israel, would be expanded.
