Germany to provide Ukraine with "winter" aid package worth over €88 million

Germany, through the European Energy Community, will provide Ukraine with an 88.5 million euro winter energy aid package, The Guardian reports.

According to a joint statement by the German Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Economy, the assistance is provided to strengthen the resilience of the Ukrainian energy system, as Russia targets its infrastructure in winter.

It is noted that the German government is providing the European Energy Community with another 88.5 million euros:

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection allocates 54.3 million euros through KfW (a German state bank that finances development programs around the world on behalf of the German government - ed;)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs - 34.2 million euros.

Germany has become one of the countries helping Ukraine by providing military, political, and financial support. Berlin has provided several types of artillery, Leopard tanks of old and new modifications, IRIS-T and Patriot air defence systems, ammunition, vehicles, drones, and other types of weapons.

It is also known that the second group of Ukrainian operators of the Patriot air defence system has completed training in Germany. A total of 70 Ukrainian soldiers and officers were trained. The training course lasted more than six weeks.

In addition, last month, Germany announced that it would double its military aid to Ukraine in 2024 to 8 billion euros.
