Germany will not leave International Criminal Court, FM says

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has said Germany does not intend to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In an interview with Deutschlandfunk, he rejected US President Donald Trump’s call for Germany to take such a step, Caliber.Az reports.

“Of course, we will not do that. It is an important institution,” Wadephul stressed.

“Frankly, I do not understand the point of this call. This is one of the areas where, unfortunately, we really have to acknowledge differences with the policy of the US administration,” the German foreign minister added.

In his words, this judicial system still remains necessary at the international level.

“And therefore, it is absolutely clear that on this issue we support the International Criminal Court,” Wadephul concluded.
