Global billionaires add record $336 billion in single day
The world’s 500 richest people collectively gained $336 billion in wealth on Monday, June 15, marking the largest single-day increase ever recorded, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
By the end of trading in New York, their combined net worth had risen to a record $13.3 trillion, driven by broad market gains and sharp increases in valuations across major technology and investment holdings.
Elon Musk remained the world’s richest individual, adding $164 billion to his fortune in a single day. That gain was nearly equal to the combined increase of the other 499 billionaires on the index.
Earlier reports also indicated that Musk briefly became the first person in history to surpass a net worth of $1 trillion, following the start of trading in shares of SpaceX, the aerospace company he founded. After its market debut, SpaceX shares reportedly rose to $163.
