Global Media Group, UN agencies host “Language of Sustainable Habitat” session in Azerbaijan PHOTO
Global Media Group, together with the UN Global Compact, the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and the United Nations office in Azerbaijan, has organised a discussion session titled “Language of Sustainable Habitat” for employees of media companies within the holding.
The event was held on May 13 ahead of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) and aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of sustainable and “green” urban environments, as well as terminology related to urban planning and the construction sector, Caliber.Az reports.
Speakers at the event included Kanako Mabuchi, Head of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Azerbaijan; Anna Soave, Head of Country Programme at UN-Habitat; regional consultant Katja Schäfer; Samir Mammadov, representative of the UN Global Compact; and Laura Seyidbekova, Head of Marketing and Communications at Global Media Group.
On October 9, 2024, Global Media Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the UN Global Compact.
Under the document, the parties cooperate in promoting sustainable business practices and the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact, implementing joint initiatives and events.
Media sector development is defined as one of the priority areas of corporate social responsibility for Global Media Group, within which systematic programs are being implemented.
