Greece unveils military agenda through 2030 Fighter jets, air defence and drones
Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias announced the government's plan on April 1 to restructure the Armed Forces under "Agenda 2030," with a focus on fighter jet acquisition, Navy Fleet enhancement, and the domestic defence industry's role in autonomous systems and missile defence.
According to Ekathimerini, Dendias visited the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA), where he was briefed on 15 prioritized military equipment programs.
Dendias stated that their goal is for the Hellenic Air Force to have 200 modern 4.5 and 5th-generation aircraft by 2030, gradually phasing out 3rd and 4th-generation aircraft.
He also revealed plans to acquire two or more full squadrons by the decade's end, made up of F-16 Viper, Rafale, and F-35 aircraft.
"Our aim is to strengthen our defence industry and advance in the production of advanced power multipliers. We are striving to create a new reality for the Greek Armed Forces," Dendias concluded.
