Greek islands offer dream honeymoons

According to its article Greek Reporter unveils that Greece continues captivating couples worldwide as a top honeymoon destination.

Greek islands remain a favorite destination for honeymooners globally, with Santorini and Mykonos securing spots in the top 25 of TripAdvisor's 2025 Travelers’ Choice Awards for Best Honeymoon Destinations. 

Renowned for their stunning views, upscale accommodations, and romantic ambiance, these two islands offer newlywed couples the ideal setting for memorable experiences as they begin their journey together.

Santorini’s iconic whitewashed buildings, perched on breathtaking cliffs with panoramic views of the Aegean Sea, create a truly dreamlike atmosphere for couples. For decades, the island has been celebrated as a romantic getaway, famous for its stunning sunsets, which are best experienced from the picturesque village of Oia or the caldera-edge towns of Fira and Imerovigli.

According to TripAdvisor, Santorini offers tranquility as you stroll along its black sand beaches or explore the quaint streets of villages like Imerovigli. The stunning village of Oia is renowned worldwide for its sunsets, which appear to be painted with every color imaginable. 

Another notable Greek island on the list is Mykonos.

Renowned for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, Mykonos ranked 12th, offering a distinctive mix of relaxation, luxury, and traditional Greek charm. TripAdvisor highlights Mykonos as "the most popular Greek island in the Aegean Sea," emphasizing its vibrant "energy."

The platform also points out that Mykonos attracts a "diverse and upscale crowd" who revel in the island's trendy nightlife.

As two of the most iconic Greek islands, Mykonos and Santorini’s inclusion on the list of top honeymoon destinations worldwide comes as no surprise.

According to TripAdvisor, the top honeymoon destination was Mauritius, followed by Bali in second place and the Maldives in third, reinforcing the enduring appeal of exotic locales for newlyweds.

Hoi An in Vietnam and Phuket in the Philippines secured the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Santorini was named the top European destination, with Italy's Florence taking eighth place overall.

Greece offers much more than just Mykonos and Santorini. While not featured on TripAdvisor's list, islands like Corfu (Kerkyra), Milos, Folegandros, Hydra, Kefalonia, Skopelos, and Paxos are among the top choices for couples seeking a peaceful retreat after their wedding celebrations.

From traditional stone mansions nestled in the narrow, cobblestone streets of Hydra to serene squares and lush greenery on Corfu, Greece provides countless options for newlyweds looking to enjoy a Mediterranean escape.
