Greenlanders rush to stop individual from raising US flag in Nuuk

Pedestrians in Greenland were outraged when an unknown male attempted to publicly raise the US flag in the capital of Nuuk. 

His attempt was foiled as nearby people rushed to stop him from lifting the fabric from a flag post at an outdoor public area, Caliber.Az reports citing Danish media.

Local police are currently investigating the incident.

The provocative move comes amid heightened tensions in the Arctic island with the United States in light of the current US administration's aggressive pursuit of the semi-autonomous Danish territory for its own security interests.
