The official visit of Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embaló to Azerbaijan has come to a close.

The departure ceremony took place at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, where the national flags of both Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau were prominently displayed in a show of respect for the distinguished guest. A ceremonial guard was also formed in honour of President Embaló, Caliber.Az reports.

The president was seen off at the airport by Azerbaijan's First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, and other high-ranking officials. The visit highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.

President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló paid an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan on February 27.

Umaro Sissoco Embaló toured one of the Azerbaijani Army’s commando military units during his official visit to the country.

The Guinean delegation was accompanied by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, and Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Mustafayev.

The visit began with a formal reception ceremony, which included a guard of honor to welcome the distinguished guests. Following the ceremony, President Embaló was introduced to a new simulation tool developed by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence Industry, showcased in the military unit's gym. He then observed the sports training of Azerbaijani military personnel, highlighting the focus on physical fitness and preparedness.

The delegation toured various facilities within the military unit, including the indoor shooting range, soldiers' dormitories, armory, warehouse, ideological workspace, and other administrative areas. They also visited the unit’s canteen, where they were briefed on the living and operational conditions for the personnel.

The president of Guinea-Bissau also visited the ASAN Service centre for public services as part of his official visit to Azerbaijan.

The president was greeted by the Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan, Ulvi Mehdiyev.

Embaló was informed on the operations and history of the ASAN Service centers, which were established on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, as well as ongoing social innovation projects. Mehdiyev also spoke of the fact that the Asan Service model has been successfully implemented in various other countries.

The president of Guinea-Bissau praised the state service as a highly significant initiative and explained that such a concept does not exist in his country. He did express his desire to implement a similar project in Guinea-Bissau following his visit, which is the first of it's kind by a head of state from Guinea-Bissau to Azerbaijan.
