Hackers breach Obama account, post “White House under Shiites’ control” PHOTO

The official Instagram account associated with the Obama White House reportedly began sharing unusual content on May 31 after it was compromised, including a claim that the White House is under Shiite control, which was later attributed to a hacking incident.

Former US President Barack Obama has a separate personal account, but the breach occurred on the @obamawhitehouse Instagram profile, which serves as the official account of the Obama White House, Caliber.Az reports, citing TMZ.

Among the posts that drew attention was an AI-generated image accompanied by a caption translated as, “The White House is under Shiites' control.”

The attacker also published several Instagram Stories.

A representative for Meta confirmed the incident, saying the account was subsequently secured and the unauthorised material has been removed.

The account’s last verified post appears to date back to January 20, 2017, the day US President Donald Trump was inaugurated for his first term.

No details have been released regarding the identity of the individual or group responsible for the breach.
