Hamas ready to participate in Palestine political processes
The Palestinian movement Hamas is ready to participate in the political process under the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), including holding elections across the country.
This statement was made by the head of Hamas's political bureau, Muhammad Darwish, in a message to members of the Arab League, which was published on the movement's official Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Hamas emphasized that it seeks to create a "Palestinian home" and strengthen the PLO so that it can represent the interests of all Palestinians. The movement also supports holding general elections and restoring democratic processes in Palestine.
In a message to Arab leaders, who will meet on March 4 in Egypt to discuss the situation in Palestine, Hamas expressed its readiness to consider any options for governing the Gaza Strip, provided they are agreed upon by Palestinians. However, the movement categorically rejects any attempts by external forces to intervene or establish a foreign military presence in Gaza.
Negotiations regarding the future governance of Gaza between Hamas and Fatah have been ongoing since 2024, with Egypt's involvement. The latest round took place in Cairo in November, where it was decided to create a temporary body to govern the Gaza Strip until a unified Palestinian government is formed. Hamas has provided Egypt with a list of candidates for this committee, but a decision on its approval has not yet been made.
