Hantavirus cases on cruise ship MV Hondius rise to nine

The number of hantavirus cases on the cruise ship MV Hondius has increased to nine, with three fatalities so far.

The Radboud University Medical Centre in the Netherlands said a test taken from a former passenger of the vessel returned a positive result, and the patient has been informed, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

On May 4, the World Health Organisation (WHO) reported an outbreak of hantavirus aboard the Dutch cruise ship, which was sailing across the Atlantic from Argentina to Cabo Verde.

At that time, eight cases had been confirmed.
