Harris vows strong action against Iranian threats Amid polls favoring Trump
In a series of bold declarations at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, US Vice President Kamala Harris, also the Democratic presidential candidate, has promised to take decisive measures to counter threats from Iran and to strengthen the US military if elected.
Harris, emphasizing her commitment to national security, stated, "I will not hesitate to implement any necessary measures to defend our nation and our allies from threats posed by Iran and Iranian-backed terrorists," Harris said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Harris's remarks on military strength further underscore her campaign's focus on enhancing the US Armed Forces. She vowed to transform the military into the most formidable global force, stating, "As commander in chief, I will ensure that America maintains the most powerful and lethal armed forces in the world."
Harris also highlighted her commitment to supporting troops and their families, vowing to honour their service and sacrifices.
In a contrasting political development, recent polling data indicates that former President Donald Trump holds a lead over Harris in the presidential race.
According to a survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports, Trump enjoys a 3-point advantage over Harris, with 49 per cent of respondents indicating support for the Republican candidate, compared to 46 per cent for the Democratic Vice President.
The poll, which was conducted online and via telephone from August 15 to August 21, included responses from approximately 1,900 potential voters. The margin of error for the survey is 3 per cent.
The poll results reflect a competitive presidential race, with 2 per cent of respondents expressing support for other candidates and another 2 per cent remaining undecided.
