Flash floods sweep Pakistan, killing at least 14 people

02 July 2026 10:55

Heavy downpours and flash floods have caused widespread destruction across Pakistan, leaving at least 14 people dead and dozens injured, according to The Nation.

The most tragic incident occurred in the Swat region, where six tourists died after a boat capsized on Lake Saifullah. Search operations are still ongoing for one missing woman.

In Attock, three people were killed when walls and roofs collapsed. In Landi Kotal, two children died after being struck by lightning, while four others were injured. In Upper Dir, lightning injured 20 schoolgirls at a madrasa.

In Zhob, a woman and a child were killed after a roof collapsed, while another person died after being struck by lightning in Ganjial, Qaidabad.

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a storm warning, alerting to the risk of further flooding and potential glacial lake outburst floods in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir.
