Heavy rains, mudslide in China leave one dead, thousands affected VIDEO
Torrential rains and a mudslide have caused widespread damage in northwestern China, affecting around 10,000 residents in Zhashui County in Shaanxi province, TASS reports, citing Chinese state television.
China Central Television said one person had been killed and two others were missing after a mudslide triggered by heavy rainfall.
Rain has continued in the affected and surrounding areas since July 30, with cumulative precipitation exceeding 320 mm in some locations.
The severe weather damaged multiple local dams and caused partial road collapses, while residential buildings and agricultural land were also affected.
Authorities said they were continuing efforts to limit casualties and economic losses, with rescue, repair and evacuation operations ongoing.
