Heavy snowfall causes major power outage in northern Poland

14 February 2026 14:45

A major power outage struck Poland’s Pomeranian region on February 14, leaving approximately 3,400 consumers without electricity and affecting 126 transformer substations.

According to the energy network operator Energa, the outages may be linked to adverse weather conditions. Polsat News journalists said the disruption was caused by heavy snowfall.

On the morning of February 14, a first-level warning for heavy snowfall was in effect in southern Poland. Authorities also issued a first-degree warning for icing in several regions.
