Hezbollah claims drone attack on Israeli military sites

06 September 2024 17:43

The Lebanese group, Hezbollah, claimed drone attacks on September 5 on military sites in northern Israel amid rising tensions between the two sides.

In a statement, the group said it fired drones and Katyusha rockets at the Ramot Naftali and Beit Hillel barracks and the newly established headquarters of the Western Brigade 300 in northern Israel, Caliber. Az informs, citing foreign media.

Hezbollah said the attacks were in response to Israeli airstrikes on border towns in southern Lebanon.

Fighters also launched anti-tank guided missiles at positions of the Israel Defense Forces in the vicinity of the city of Kiryat Shmona, which is located 2.5 kilometres from the Lebanese border. As a result, a fire broke out in one of the buildings.

The rocket fire was directed at the settlement of Avivim in Western Galilee, where, it is claimed, one of the military sites was hit.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, an Israeli airstrike on the town of Kafarya on September 5 resulted in one death and left another person injured.

Since October 8, 2023, Hezbollah and Israel have been involved in cross-border hostilities, triggered by Israel’s large-scale military offensive in Gaza. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, the offensive, which followed an attack by Hamas, has led to the deaths of nearly 40,900 people, the majority of whom are women and children. So far, at least 434 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in the ongoing conflict.
