Hezbollah commander killed after locals report his hideout
Thousands of Lebanese citizens have contacted Israeli security services following leaflet drops carried out by Unit 504 in southern Lebanon, according to a report published on Thursday evening.
The leaflets, distributed in multiple areas, called on residents to assist in identifying Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports per Israeli media.
In the wake of the campaign, a large number of civilians reportedly responded, providing information that was passed on to Israel’s military intelligence directorate.
According to the report, the intelligence supplied by these contacts contributed significantly to a series of strikes and targeted killings during the current military campaign in Lebanon.
Among those killed was Hajj Yusuf Ismail al-Hashem, described as the commander of Hezbollah’s southern front. He was eliminated last week after several Lebanese civilians allegedly identified his hideout and relayed the information to Israeli forces.
The Israel Defence Forces subsequently struck the location, resulting in his death, the report said.
