Hezbollah confirms death of its Air Force commander

27 September 2024 11:34

Hezbollah has confirmed that the commander of the movement's air force, Mohammad Hussein Srour, was killed in an attack by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Three rockets struck a residential building in Beirut's Southern Suburb. According to the preliminary reports, at least four people were killed, with several others injured, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

The IDF announced that on September 26, Israeli air forces targeted Beirut, resulting in the elimination of Mohammad Hussein Srour. Israeli Major General Tomer Bar stated on September 26 that the primary objective for his forces will be to prevent Iran from supplying weapons to the Lebanese Hezbollah group.

“We are now determined to cut off any potential delivery of arms from Iran to Lebanon, especially considering what Hezbollah has lost because of our actions. This mission will take precedence among our priorities,” Bar said.

Moreover, he mentioned that the Air Force is preparing to support the Northern Command of the IDF in case of an order to initiate a ground offensive into Lebanon. Meanwhile, Hezbollah said that it attacked Kiryat Ata city near Haifa district with 50 rocket projectiles.

Earlier, the group launched 80 projectiles at Safed in northern Israel. Israel will continue launching significant attacks on Hezbollah until it achieves all its objectives. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined the conditions for a ceasefire.

“We are relentlessly striking Hezbollah, and we will not stop until we accomplish all our goals, particularly the safe return of residents in northern Israel to their houses,” Netanyahu stated.

The prime minister also mentioned that he attended the United Nations General Assembly session accompanied by relatives of hostages taken by Hamas, aiming to convey Israel’s position to the international community.
