Israeli forces eliminate key Hamas commanders in Gaza strikes
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) carried out a strike in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza, killing Rafat Abu Zamar, a platoon commander at the headquarters of the Hamas military wing’s operations division.
He was involved in preparing Hamas operatives ahead of the October 7, 2023, attack, Caliber.Az reports, citing the IDF.
“The terrorist advanced and led training for operatives in Hamas ahead of the October 7th Massacre, and more recently continued to train operatives and develop Hamas’ combat capabilities,” the army said.
In another strike in Gaza City, the Israeli military killed Muhammad Khader Fahmi Aghour, a member of Hamas’ military wing who was involved in weapons production for the organisation.
“Recently, the terrorists advanced terrorist attacks targeting IDF troops and Israeli civilians and operated to restore the terrorist organization's capabilities, in systematic violation of the ceasefire. The terrorists were eliminated in order to remove the threat they posed.
Prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance,” the IDF press service added.
