Hezbollah gunman shot dead after opening fire on Israeli forces
The Israeli military killed a Hezbollah operative in southern Lebanon after he opened fire on Israeli soldiers during a search operation.
According to a statement from the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), troops on July 7 searched a building in the security zone near Bint Jbeil, where a clash had taken place the previous Thursday, July 2, and left an IDF reservist seriously wounded.
“During the searches, a Hezbollah terrorist operating inside the structure opened fire at the soldiers.
The soldiers immediately returned fire, eliminating the terrorist. No IDF injuries were reported.
The IDF will continue to operate to remove any threat to its troops and will not allow the Hezbollah terrorist organization to harm Israeli civilians,” the military said in a statement.
