Hezbollah leader urges Lebanon to cancel US talks with Israel
14 April 2026 10:27
The leader of Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, on April 13 called on the Lebanese government to cancel a planned meeting with Israel in Washington, reiterating the group’s opposition to direct negotiations with the country.
In a televised address, Qassem called this step a “historic and heroic stance,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
His remarks came ahead of a scheduled April 14 meeting in the United States between Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors.
Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group that has been engaged in hostilities with Israel since March 2, has repeatedly opposed any direct talks between Lebanon and Israel.
