Hezbollah says explosives destroy Israeli armoured vehicles in Lebanon
Hezbollah said on April 20 that it carried out an attack targeting Israeli forces in southern Lebanon a day earlier, claiming to have destroyed multiple armoured vehicles in a response to ceasefire violations.
In a statement, the Iran-backed group said a convoy of eight Israeli armored vehicles entered a mined area on April 19, moving from the town of At-Tayba toward the former As-Salaa outpost near the village of Deir Siryan. The group alleged that the movement constituted “another violation” within days of a ceasefire taking effect, Caliber.Az reports.
According to Hezbollah, the explosives detonated in two phases between 3:40 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. local time, hitting the convoy and destroying four Merkava tanks. The group added that fires broke out in the vehicles following the blasts.
Hezbollah said Israeli forces later evacuated the damaged vehicles at around 6:00 p.m.
