Hezbollah signals readiness for all-out war in support of Iran
Iraq's Iran-backed Kataib Hezbollah group has issued a statement calling on its supporters worldwide to prepare for what it described as an “all‑out war” in defence of Iran, warning that any potential military conflict against Tehran would be difficult and costly for its adversaries.
The statement, published on Hezbollah’s official Telegram channel, emphasised readiness to take up arms if religious authorities declare a jihad, Caliber.Az reports.
It also referenced so-called “self-sacrifice” operations, describing them as a means to protect Islam and its dignity.
The statement followed reports that the US Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier had entered the Middle East, putting it within striking distance of Iran, amid US President Donald Trump’s repeated warnings of intervention if the crackdown on protesters intensifies.
On January 22, Trump stated that Washington has a “massive fleet” en route to Iran “just in case.”
The pro-Iran paramilitary group was designated a terrorist organisation by the US in 2009 and has faced multiple sanctions since.
Washington has consistently urged the disarmament of armed groups in Iraq, arguing that their presence threatens the country’s sovereignty.
