Hezbollah threatens Israel

02 February 2024 18:31

Hezbollah is not interested in any discussion of Israel’s demands for war in the Gaza Strip.

“Hezbollah will stop provocations against Israel after the end of hostilities in the Palestinian enclave,” Deputy Secretary General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem said in an interview with Al Akhbar.

“Many representatives visited us and warned us directly and indirectly that Israel could attack Lebanon if the issue of return of the Israelis is resolved. Our answer secretly and publicly was clear. Stop the war in Gaza and it would stop here automatically, because the front with Lebanon was open to support the Gaza Strip as the main target. After the end of the war, such military support is not required,” he replied while answering the question of how the organisation is preparing for “the day after the war” if the war in the Gaza Strip ends,” he said.

“We are not discussing steps to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza with anyone, because this is a Palestinian issue. Nothing forces us to discuss the situation in South Lebanon with anyone after the end of the war,” he noted.

Qassem commented on the issue of tactical agreements with Israel in the border areas.

“Israel can say what it wants, and we can also say what we want. We will not discuss any issues related to the southern front until the war is completely over,” he said.

“We understood that intimidation will not weaken our support for Gaza or change our position. We are ready to respond to any Israeli aggression, no matter how large-scale it may be,” he said while answering a question about whether there is a risk of war if Hezbollah does not meet its demands.
