Ukraine moves to recover nearly $7 billion from Russia, Gazprom, says Zelenskyy
Ukraine has several favourable rulings from international arbitration courts totaling $6.9 billion, which are now being prepared to be recovered from Russia and its energy firm Gazprom, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on his Telegram channel.
Zelenskyy discussed with Naftogaz CEO Serhiy Koretsky ways to enforce the arbitration rulings in Ukraine’s favour, Caliber.Az reports.
"At present, we already have several favorable rulings from international arbitrations totaling \$6.9 billion. These are absolutely fair decisions that demonstrate the responsibility of Russia and Gazprom and affirm the power of international law," the president noted.
The head of state added that concrete steps are being prepared to recover these funds, and tomorrow, July 21, Ukrainian ambassadors will receive the relevant instructions.
Zelenskyy also discussed with Koretsky preparations for the new heating season and agreements with European partners and international financial organizations that are necessary for Ukraine’s resilience.
