High-level climate talks in Denmark aim to strengthen COP29 agreements

COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev has met  with King Frederik X of Denmark to discuss the advancement and implementation of key decisions adopted during the COP29 climate summit.

The meeting, which underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing global climate challenges, was reported via the official COP29 account on the social platform X, Caliber.Az reports.

Also present at the meeting were President of COP30 André Corrêa do Lago, Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard, and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Simon Stiell.

According to the statement, the discussions focused on maintaining global momentum around multilateral climate action and ensuring continuity between the outcomes of COP29 and the upcoming COP30 conference. Participants emphasized the importance of reinforcing international partnerships and aligning national actions with the decisions agreed upon during the previous summit.

"COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev took part in a critical meeting with HM King Frederik X of Denmark, COP30 President-Designate André Corrêa do Lago, Danish Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities and Simon Stiell, UNFCCC Executive Secretary. In the meeting, they discussed how to sharpen the world’s focus on the steps needed to preserve the multilateral system, on implementing the promises made at COP29, and on making COP30 Amazonia a success," the post reads.
