Historic Picasso portrait to be raffled off for Alzheimer’s research funding
A portrait by Pablo Picasso, the famous Spanish painter, will be offered as a lottery prize for just €100 (about $116) per ticket.
The “1 Picasso for 100 euros” raffle offers entrants the chance to win Tête de Femme, a 1941 gouache by the painter, which will be drawn on April 14 at a Christie's auction in Paris among participants who purchase special lottery tickets, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
A total of 120,000 tickets will be available, allowing organisers to raise up to €12 million. The proceeds will be directed to an Alzheimer’s research foundation, with €1 million allocated to the Opera Gallery, which owns the painting.
This is not the first time a Picasso work has been raffled for €100. In 2013, a technician from Pennsylvania won the painting “Man in the Opera Hat” (1914), while in 2020 an accountant from Italy won a still life by the Spanish artist after receiving a ticket as a gift from her son.
Previous raffles have helped fund cultural initiatives in Lebanon and clean water programs in Africa.
