Horadiz–Aghband railway nearing completion, set to transform regional connectivity VIDEO
The Horadiz–Aghband railway line, designed to link with the strategic Zangazur corridor, has reached 85% completion in design and 68% in construction, Azerbaijan Railways announced.
This ambitious infrastructure project encompasses the construction of eight stations, 22 bridges, two major tunnels, and over 550 engineering structures, highlighting the scale and complexity of the undertaking, Caliber.Az reports.
Once operational, the railway is expected to catalyze economic growth in Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur, lift the long-standing transport blockade of Nakhchivan, and establish a new “iron bridge” connecting Europe and Asia. The project is seen as a critical step in enhancing regional trade, mobility, and integration, further strengthening Azerbaijan’s role as a key transport hub in the South Caucasus.
