Houthi attack in Red Sea kills three Pakistanis, FM confirms

Three Pakistani nationals were killed, and another was injured in a Houthi attack on a commercial vessel in the Red Sea, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said in a post on X.

Dar strongly condemned the attack, stressing that such strikes pose a serious threat to freedom of navigation, maritime security and the safety of commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the minister, Islamabad is in contact with the authorities of Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government to establish further details and circumstances surrounding the incident.

“I have directed our Embassy in Riyadh to immediately coordinate with the concerned authorities, and to strongly pursue all necessary measures for the retrieval and repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased Pakistani nationals and for the provision of all possible assistance to the injured Pakistani national,” the minister added.

The attacked vessel, the Tihamah, was struck on August 11 in the area of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. In addition to the three Pakistani nationals, one Indonesian citizen and two members of the Yemeni forces involved in the rescue operation were killed.
