Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia injure 73 people

08 September 2026 09:00

Seventy-three people were injured in recent attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement on Saudi Arabian territory, according to the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government.

Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the attacks targeted civilian and economic facilities in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan and Najran. He did not specify when the attacks took place, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

“The command… will take all necessary measures and actions to respond to the sources of the threat and neutralise the danger emanating from them,” the coalition said in a statement posted on X.

Houthi and Iranian media reported overnight that attacks had targeted Abha International Airport, King Khalid Air Base and facilities belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco in Abha and Jizan.

The Houthis had accused Saudi Arabia a day earlier of carrying out strikes in Yemen. The group said at least 11 people, including a child, were killed when a prison in Al-Jawf province was hit, while around 20 others were trapped under the rubble.
