Houthi movement threatens to resume attacks if US strikes Iran
The Yemeni group Ansar Allah (Houthis) has warned that it may resume attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait if the United States launches strikes against Iran.
The warning was issued in a video posted on the group’s official channels, stating: “In the event of a U.S. attack on Iran, we will sink the entire American fleet and vessels in the Red Sea.”
The announcement follows similar statements by the Lebanese group Hezbollah, which recently called on its supporters worldwide to prepare for a “comprehensive war” in defence of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait are key international shipping routes, and any escalation in the area could have serious implications for global trade and energy supplies.
