Airlines halt flights to Israel's Tel Aviv after rocket attack on Ben Gurion Airport

04 May 2025 17:54

A number of international airlines have suspended flights to Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv following a rocket strike on the facility.

The incident occurred on May 4 when a rocket, reportedly launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen, exploded on airport grounds, injuring three people, Caliber.Az reports per Israeli media.

Operations at the airport were temporarily halted but resumed within an hour, allowing the arrival and departure of flights to continue. In response to the strike, several airlines have canceled planned services to Israel.

Lufthansa and Air Europa called off their scheduled flights on May 4, while Wizz Air announced a suspension of all flights to the country for the next 48 hours. Other major carriers including Air France, Air Canada, All Nippon Airways, British Airways, and United Airlines have also canceled multiple flights as a precautionary measure.
