Houthis claim new missile and drone strikes on Israeli targets

19 September 2025 10:26

Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement have carried out new missile and drone attacks against key Israeli targets, the group announced.

Al Masirah TV reported that the Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, confirmed the operations. According to Saree, a major military facility in Tel Aviv was destroyed using a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile.

“In addition, two precision strikes were carried out: the first targeted multiple sites in Umm al-Rashras (Eilat) using three drones, and the second hit a strategically significant facility in Beersheba. Both operations were successfully completed,” the statement said.

These strikes follow earlier Houthi operations on September 16, when a hypersonic ballistic missile hit another Israeli facility in Tel Aviv. That same day, Houthi forces also attacked Ramon Airport near Eilat in southern Israel using UAVs.

The recent attacks were reportedly in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes on Yemen’s Hodeidah port, where the Israeli military carried out 12 strikes that completely destroyed the port’s shipyard.

The Houthis had previously warned that, amid escalating violence in Gaza, they would target Israeli territory and block Israeli-linked ships from passing through the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait until military operations in Gaza ended. Since November 2023, the group has attacked over 100 ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

Houthi attacks had paused following a Gaza ceasefire in mid-January 2025. However, after the truce collapsed in early March, the rebels resumed assaults on Israeli vessels in the Red Sea and renewed missile attacks on Israeli territory.
