Houthis target USS Harry Truman in fourth strike within 72 hours
The Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah movement have launched another attack on the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman in the Red Sea, marking the fourth such strike within 72 hours.
According to a statement from the Yemeni Armed Forces, the attack was carried out in response to "hostile military movements" in the Red Sea, which they claim were preparations for a large-scale air assault on Yemen, Caliber.Az reports, citing Yemeni media.
“In retaliation, our missile, naval, and UAV forces executed a joint military operation utilizing multiple cruise missiles and drones, directly targeting the aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and several enemy warships. The operation successfully thwarted and neutralized the impending attack,” the statement read.
The Houthis emphasized that the strike had met its objectives and reaffirmed their commitment to escalating operations against what they referred to as the "Zionist enemy" unless the conflict in Gaza ceases and the blockade is lifted.
Earlier reports from the Yemeni military indicated that the initial attack on the USS Harry S. Truman followed a series of aggressive airstrikes by American forces targeting several Yemeni provinces, including the capital Sana'a.
The recent U.S. airstrikes, among the most significant against the Houthis in recent years, have resulted in substantial casualties and have targeted key strategic locations within Yemen. AP News The Houthis have threatened further retaliatory measures, including potential missile strikes on U.S. military assets, should the U.S. continue its operations in the region.
