Huge fire erupts near Baghdad airport, emergency teams deployed VIDEO

A fire broke out on Wednesday, July 1, in an area adjacent to Baghdad International Airport, prompting civil defence teams to deploy to the scene to contain the blaze.

A security source told Shafaq News that civil defence units were mobilised to tackle a large fire that engulfed overgrown grassy areas and a scrapyard located within the perimeter of the airport.

The source said firefighters succeeded in bringing the spread of the fire under control after it affected dry vegetation, scrap metal, and waste materials on airport grounds.

Firefighting operations remain ongoing as crews continue efforts to fully extinguish the blaze.
