Hundreds of trucks snarl EU borders as delays mount in Lithuania, Poland

18 February 2026 12:34

Hundreds of freight vehicles remain stranded at the external borders of the European Union, as congestion continues to mount at key crossings into Lithuania and Poland.

A total of 345 trucks are currently waiting to enter EU territory, Caliber.Az reports, citing Belarus media.

The heaviest traffic is reported at the Lithuanian checkpoint Salcininkai (adjacent to Benyakoni), where 180 trucks are lined up. Over the past 24 hours, border authorities at this crossing processed only 30% of the standard daily volume of heavy-duty vehicles, significantly slowing the flow of goods.

Even lower throughput was recorded at the Lithuanian checkpoint Medininkai (Kamenny Log), where just 15% of the usual daily number of trucks were cleared within a 24-hour period. Currently, 130 heavy trucks are awaiting entry into the EU at that location.

Meanwhile, at the Kukuryki (Kozlovichi) crossing on the Polish side, 35 trucks remain in queue. Over the same period, Polish border services admitted 55% of the standard volume of freight transport.
