Hungarian FM slams EU’s top diplomat for advocating strikes on Russia
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó has criticized Josep Borrell, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Borrell recently called for increased Western arms supplies to Ukraine. He also suggested that these weapons be used to strike Russian territory.
Zoltan Kovacs, the state secretary for international communications and relations in the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office, wrote about the minister's remarks on X, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“Minister Szijjártó criticized the outgoing EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, for his calls to send more weapons to Ukraine and his suggestion that these Western-supplied weapons be used for deep strikes on Russian territory,” Kovacs's message says.
Earlier, Borrell expressed support for the invasion of Ukrainian forces into Russia’s Kursk region during a phone call with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and invited him to Brussels for an informal meeting of EU foreign and defence ministers on August 29-30.
