Hungarian PM demands end to alleged Ukrainian election interference

17 February 2026 12:49

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has publicly called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to cease what he described as interference in Hungary’s domestic electoral process.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Orbán issued a pointed warning to Kyiv, asserting that Hungarian sovereignty must be respected, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the Hungarian leader, Ukrainian representatives are actively involved in Hungary’s ongoing election campaign, allegedly backing opposition candidates.

“The Ukrainians are deeply involved in the Hungarian election campaign.

They are financing our opponents to suit their own personal interests.

Stop your meddling, Hungary must decide its own future!” the post by the prime minister reads.
