Hungary not to support EU's 14th package of anti-Russian sanctions
27 May 2024 18:48
Budapest will not support the 14th package of EU sanctions against Russia in its current form, because it contradicts Hungary's interests in the field of energy.
As TASS reports, this was announced by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto, who took part in a meeting with his EU counterparts in Brussels.
He noted that "one of the most important points of today's debate was the 14th package of sanctions."
"In its current form, it is completely contrary to Hungary's economic interests and would surely jeopardise the security of Hungary's energy supply. Therefore, the Hungarian government will not accept this package of sanctions in this form," Szijjártó said.
