Hungary offers diplomatic role in Ukraine conflict resolution

Hungary is prepared to contribute diplomatically to efforts aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine and could potentially serve as a venue for future negotiations, Prime Minister Péter Magyar has said.

Magyar made the remarks in an interview with the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“We can provide diplomatic and humanitarian assistance, and Hungary could also be a place for negotiations,” he said.

Addressing the issue of security guarantees for Kyiv, Magyar stressed that such assurances can only be provided by the broader international community.

“Hungary cannot play a decisive role here; this is the prerogative of the great powers,” he noted.
