Hungary pledges to veto EU sanctions on Russia's nuclear energy

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said that Budapest would veto EU sanctions against Russian nuclear energy.

Orban's remarks were reported by TASS on January 27.

"Plans for new sanctions are being developed in Brussels, nuclear energy is on the agenda," he said commenting on the preparation by the European Commission of the tenth sanctions package against Russia.

Orban stressed that he "expects a big fight on this issue, but the Hungarian government will veto" if the EU tries to impose restrictions on Russian nuclear power.
