Hungary's Tisza leader calls on president to convene parliament immediately
13 April 2026 18:11
Péter Magyar, leader of Hungary’s Tisza Party, has called on President Tamás Sulyok to convene the first session of the new parliament without delay.
According to the party, with nearly 99% of votes counted in the parliamentary elections, Tisza has secured 138 of the 199 parliamentary seats, RMF24 reports.
Magyar said the final tally could rise slightly to 141–142 seats once counting is fully completed.
Speaking at a press conference in Budapest, he stressed that the president should not wait until the constitutional deadline of May 12 and must act promptly.
“We cannot afford to lose time. Hungary is in a difficult situation on many issues,” Magyar said.
