Hungary sees no military threat from Ukraine, says PM's advisor
Ukraine does not pose a military threat to Hungary, said Balázs Orbán, political advisor to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Speaking in an interview with Magyar Hang, Balázs Orbán emphasized that Hungary, as a NATO member state, remains secure under the alliance’s protection.
“No, we are a NATO member state, and the NATO alliance is strong enough to maintain Hungary’s peace and security. They want to occupy the country politically,” he said, responding to questions about a potential Ukrainian attack.
The remarks come amid rising tensions between Budapest and Kyiv. In recent weeks, the Hungarian government has accused Ukraine of attempting to interfere in parliamentary elections.
Balázs Orbán added that Ukraine is seeking support from other countries in the form of financial aid, weapons, and military resources. “Since the Hungarian government refuses to meet these demands, Ukraine is directing its efforts, resources, and expertise toward attempting to change Viktor Orbán’s government,” he said.
