Metro station roof collapses, leaving two injured in Tashkent, Uzbekistan VIDEO

Part of the roof structure at the Turon metro station in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, shifted and partially collapsed on July 16, leaving two people injured, the metro operator Tashkent Metro has stated.

It said the incident occurred at 14:34 local time, Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media.

Train services through the elevated station were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.

Tashkent Metro noted that two passengers sustained minor injuries and received first aid at the scene.

To accommodate affected commuters, authorities introduced free metrobus services between the Qipchoq and Quruvchilar stations.

Eight buses were deployed on the route, operating at intervals of approximately three minutes.

The Tashkent city administration later clarified that the damaged section was part of the station's decorative ceiling rather than a structural element of the facility.

A special commission has been established to determine the cause of the incident, while specialists continue repair and restoration work at the station.

Municipal and emergency services remain on site, and passengers are being kept informed about service changes and alternative transport options.
