One soldier killed, six injured in Indonesian Army ammunition depot blast
One soldier has died, and six others were wounded, four critically, following a powerful explosion on Thursday, July 16, at an Indonesian Army ammunition storage facility in East Java province.
The blast occurred during a routine inspection at the Central Ammunition Depot II, operated by the Army Ordnance Centre in the Saradan district of Madiun Regency, as per Xinhua.
Army spokesperson Brigadier General Donny Pramono confirmed the casualties, stating that four of the wounded servicemen sustained severe injuries, while two suffered minor injuries. All victims were evacuated to a local military hospital for treatment.
Military authorities immediately cordoned off the surrounding area to secure the site. An official investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause and circumstances of the blast.
