Hunka's family goes into hiding after being honoured in Canada's Parliament

Ukrainian member of the SS “Galicia” division Yaroslav Hunka and his family began to hide from neighbors and journalists because of the scandal that erupted after his honoring in the Canadian Parliament.

North Bay resident Barb Bonanfant, who has been friends with the Hunka family for about 30 years, told CBC about this.

“They’re afraid to show their faces“- said the woman.

She added that she did not know about her friend’s Nazi past.

In addition, a resident of Canada claims that the Nazi and his family did not know that he would be invited to a parliamentary meeting, otherwise, they would not have brought him there.

“They thought he would just be in the room with Zelenskyy“, Bonanfant added.

Earlier, Hunka himself said that he wanted to “die quietly with his family,” but now he will be forced to move “to friends” in South America. 

As it turned out later, during World War II, Jaroslav Hunka fought on the side of the Nazis.

Trudeau himself only offered a meagre apology for the incident on September 27, five days after he joyfully welcomed the SS man into Parliament. At the same time, he once again began to assure that he did not know that there was a Nazi in front of him.
