IAEA head likens UN chiefs to conductors interpreting Mozart differently
05 July 2026 15:29
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, compared United Nations secretaries-general to conductors who perform the same Mozart composition in different ways.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Grossi noted that the IAEA is headquartered in Vienna, the city where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart once lived.
“One conductor and another conductor can perform the same Mozart piece, yet it can sound completely different. I like that comparison,” Grossi said.
According to him, the charter of the organization he leads remains the same, but it contains a range of different rules and parameters that can be interpreted and implemented in varying ways.
